MY Little Big Brother

This is my brother Hardie,  Niles Hardie to be exact. We called him
nails as a nick name.
Hardie was the closest to me in age. we spent a lot of time together.
When we were small and worked in the orchards, we were usually paired
together. He worked hard, always. I remember getting wore out too soon
and he would fill my lug full so I would get paid.
He was so very smart! He could calculate things I never would Have
guessed could be. He loved animals, especially dogs, collected comic
books,  enjoyed card games, especially Bridge, and almost always
won monopoly. He had a beautiful tenor voice and we sang together
for the church. He loved a good strong cup of Java, Hamburger stew,
Fried Chicken, Mogan David Blackberry wine and yellow roses.
And kids! Oh how he loved kids! He wanted
a house full of them!
He always had pennies for the kids. If a group of kids were around
he would throw a big handful out for them to get. He scattered them
all over his home and when the kids visited they knew they were for them.

He was attending college when the Vietnam war broke out and when his
draft came up, he went voluntarily .He said it was his duty as given
in God's word. he loved God with all his heart and soul.
when he came home, he had been injured, and sprayed with chemicals.
He was never right after that. He would be walking down the road, yell
Charlie and hit the ditch , taking along anyone nearby. He wandered .
He tried to return to college but the demons inside made it impossible to
study.  He tried to work and the same happened. Once he had bought
a new car, then disappeared. The police several states away found him
throwing rocks at it, saying it was full of the enemy. He totaled it.

One day, discouraged with not being able to get Government help,
and thinking he was destroying the enemy within he took his own life.
All his nephews and nieces wept bitterly and placed the tear soaked
hankies and pennies  in his coffin.

This page is a memorial and tribute to a wonderful, God filled man .
He loved wild violets. Not the house violets but wild Michigan
violets that only come in shades of purple and white touched with

purple. He was always picking them. Always had such a huge smile
when he could share them

(Rom 8:38 NKJV) For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,

(Rom 8:39 NKJV) nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

(Rom 9:1 NKJV) I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit,

HE AIN'T HEAVY... HE'S MY BROTHER

The road is long, with many a winding turn

That leads us to who knows where, who knows where

But I'm strong, strong enough to carry him

He ain't heavy - he's my brother

So on we go, his welfare is my concern

No burden is he to bare, we'll get there

For I know he would not encumber me

He ain't heavy - he's my brother

If I'm laden at all, I'm laden with sadness

That everyone's heart isn't filled with
gladness of love for one another

It's a long long road from which there is no return

While we're on our way to there, why not share

And the load, it doesn't weigh me down at all

He ain't heavy - he's my brother

He ain't heavy - he's my brother,
he's my brother, he's my brother
