to My old/classic Cars License Plate hanging quilt

In the early 50's My mom decided it was time she started to drive. Tired of
asking dad to chauffeur her and a house full of kids, it would make life much
easier.
The problem was, papa did not intend to teach her!
On a crisp February morning , with an amused look on his face and the four youngest in the
car he took her out on the icy, snow drifted roads and stopped.
   "ok, Drive." He said.
Mom had determination, I'll give her that.
   We held our breath.
She calmly climbed behind the wheel and we were off cruising down the icy road.
We all let out a war whoop .Free! Now we could go when and where we wanted to.
The next thing was getting mom a car.
Soon after on a windy March day , Dad announced he had enough to get mom her own
car as long as we stuck to no frills and the car run good. This time he insisted we all stay home
and just he and mom would go.
Used car lots had sprung up all around us with no guarantee what you ended up with.
Several hours later we  heard honking and all eight of us ran to the steamy front windows.
Wiping a peeking hole we looked out to see mom proudly sitting behind the wheel of a four door coup.
Grabbing our coats we all ran out clambering for a ride. We all piled in with the youngest
sitting on top the oldest laps, except for our oldest two who had the honor of sitting up front
with mom because they would be the first to drive her "baby". 1/2 mile down the road the
back door flew open and out tumbled Willy! With so much excitement and noise it took another 1/2 mile to get mom's attention that one of us was missing.
She gasp and hurried back looking for him. He was calmly standing beside the road
waiting to be found.
She checked him for injury and deposited him back into the crowded car, all the while
scolding him for playing with the door.
It took 3 more trips and tumbles to prove the latch on the door didn't work, and because
brother Willy insisted on sitting next to that door, he was always the one getting tossed.
There was 4-5 of us the last time it happened and we all shouted in unison, "Willy overboard!"
Needless to say that was the first of many repairs to come.

I hope you enjoy this quilt. I have combined old and classic cars with state/
where you are from license plates. Here is the template
