Bricks
My Father was a "jack of all trades" and one of those he shared the talent
with his brothers was, Brick Laying and Masonry.
I watched many times as he constructed a flower bed, steps, walks, and
even walls from Cement blocks and baked blocks.
My favorite memory is watching him and a large group of men build the
church walls. There was a big pile of cement blocks and a huge pile of
dirt.
The "filling" cement was mixed in a device like above and then the men
who were laying the Blocks were given a pile of it on a board. It was the
wet filling that had to be just right to secure the blocks and make the
wall strong.
The Women came with all kinds of food and set up make shift tables
from boards and blocks. The food was always the best they could offer .
The children who were there played in the sand on the side away from the
work.
How wonderful it was when after a meal some of the men and women would
relax for a few with good down home gospel songs!
A lot of solid friendship was developed those days during the work that
lasted a long time.
Building Friendships are like building walls,. If you spare the filling
"yourself" then the structure is weak and will tumble.
I would like to build a friendship wall with your help.
Please make 2, one of each
