My
Home Town
Jackson, Michigan

Some of the most beautiful scenery in
the Northern Midwest is in Jackson , from rolling country-sides and miles of wooded
acreage to expansive lakes and clear running streams. In the spring you can see thousands
of blooming plants and in the fall the colors are breathtaking. Wildlife can be seen
throughout the year.
On July 3, 1829, Horace
Blackman, accompanied by Alexander Laverty,
a land surveyor, and an Indian guide forded
the Grand River from Ann Arbor to what is now Jackson.
The town was first called Jacksonburg,
but in 1838 was changed to simply Jackson.
Jackson Has many
things to see and do. One of it's many claims to fame is the birthplace of the republican
party.

There is a small park for walkers to
rest downtown that marks this spot and a large rock with a combative plaque.
